Sustainable Packaging CoalitionĀ®

As a member of the Sustainable Packaging Coalition®, we develop and launch innovative packaging solutions and alternatives to single-use plastic.

As a member of this coalition, we join a group of forward-thinking brands who want their packaging to be recycled and are empowering consumers through smart packaging labels.

Consumers care

63%+ of consumers care as much about sustainable packaging materials as they do about sustainable products themselves.

How2Recycle approved

Working towards the goal of 100% How2Recycle® approval of all Robinson Fresh branded products. This impactful labeling drives sales and helps promote consumer loyalty to the brand and your stores.

Pillars of innovation

Our committed team of sustainable packaging experts consistently look for new and innovative ways to bring new sustainable packaging options to our customers and your consumers.

Substitution of paper for plastic

Paper decomposes very quickly and is almost entirely recyclable versus plastic that can take between 400 and 1,000 years to completely decompose.

Recyclable packaging includes cardboard boxes, pulp formats and paper based void fills. This paper goes to a facility, is soaked, chopped and reformed and is completely biodegradable through processing versus landfill compose.

Compostable packaging is meant to decay completely into soil. Commercially compostable materials need to be sent to a facility to be properly decayed. If compostable packaging does end up in a landfill, it will generally still degrade faster than other materials.

Reduction of packaging altogether

Packaging is mandatory for many consumer goods, but produce is one of the few categories where significant headway in package reduction can be made. All reductions in packaging can lead to significant cost savings for suppliers and retailers.
